40k Terrain from Trash - Industrial Building #3

I followed the same process as before but used a light brown/sandy colour scheme. The other item I am proud of is that I finally managed to use the shaving blades on this piece of terrain, I have been holding onto these for ages now.

Enjoy.

Blood Angels - Knights of Blood - Finished

These really took me a long time to complete, all the details that make them amazing models are a pain when you are short of painting time.

Never the less I have them at a stage where I am happy.

As I have found out in all the previous attempts photographing them is even more difficult. Trying to get the red to look 'red' while showing off the rest of the model is proving impossible. It is a shame we can't figure this out because the models, in reality, look really good.

These are a second attempt at photographing them with different settings.

These are shots from my phone camera.

More "Blood for the Blood God"...no wait "for the Emperor!"

Blood Angels - Astorath Conversion - WIP

So it's been a few weeks since I have done any hobby and I am still working my way through the tactical squad. To change things up a bit I went through my bits box and came up with an Astorath Conversion.

It is mostly based on the Sanguinary Guard parts with the main feature being the high elf head.

The pictures aren't the best but they give you a good idea of what I am trying for.

Hopefully it wont take me an entire year to paint up.

Blood Angels - Knights of Blood - WIP

Starting to paint the squad according to my existing scheme which is a black primer followed by my custom mix for the dark metal armour. For the red I am using  a base colour of Scab Red. The layer for the red is Mephiston Red then using Balor Brown and dark Brown for the ammo pouches and cloth areas. I will be painting the gemstones green.

These are pictures of the earlier stages.

Its been slow going but I am hoping to get them done soon.

Blood Angels - Knights of Blood - WIP

I have been wanting to continue expanding my Blood Angels army for a long time now but like so many hobby projects this year, other things intervene.

This squad is armed for close combat with mostly chain-sword and bolt pistols, I have also included some heavier weapons like Plamsa Gun, Melta Gun and Flamer but nothing that should inhibit movement. I have used backpacks but could swap out for Jump Packs if needed.

The other part of this squad I have worked on creating is the individual poses. To make the squad unique I have created a shoulder-pad press mould shield and blood drop icon out of greenstuff for the Knights of Blood  symbol , unfortunately I was not good enough to do the swords as well. The sergeant is a model from the Assault on Blackreach set, one of my favourites, with a right arm swap and boltgun  swap. Some of the other poses are a space marine throwing a hand grenade, another favourite pose, as well as a marine looking at an auspix. I have also converted one marine to carry a combat knife rather than a chain sword.

Stay tuned as I paint these guys up.

40k - Blood Angels Knights of Blood Librarian - Dark Vengeance - Finished

Here it is the final model.

Like the Captain model I am not happy with the picture quality. My camera is pretty old and my light setup may not be the best either, the reds are flat and you cant see the difference in the glazing on the armour.

In the plastic it looks really good and I love the metallic look over the flat blue colour normally done on Librarians.

Let me know what you guys think.

40k - Blood Angels Knights of Blood Librarian - Dark Vengeance WIP

Just moved in and unpacked my hobby stuff and carved out a niche but not yet managed to get any hobby done yet...so close now.

This I believe is my last model to finish from the Dark Vengeance boxed set and it is a kit bash albeit a small change with only a shoulder pad and sword being replaced in conjunction with filing off all the Dark Angels icons.

I wanted to use my glazing technique to make the armour a metallic blue, rather than the traditional solid colour, from a silver base colour covered with multiple blue glazes. Above you can see the first very thin glaze that has hardly changed the silver. I have also pretty much done most of the work on the layers for the cloth and other elements of the armour.

Here is the next glaze and you can start to see the nice metallic look coming through. Now the tricky part begins because depending on how dark you want the armour to look depends on how thin the glaze needs to be. The other danger is that too much glaze can completely cover the silver underneath and ruin the effect.

I liked the final look although it is a tiny bit to dark in some places.

Next up the final pictures.

40k - Blood Angels - Knights of Blood Captain - Dark Vengeance Finished

After completing all the highlights here is the finished model.

Once again I am not happy with the picture quality of my camera and probably my light setup. The reds are flat and you cant see the difference between the highlights and base colour. The black armour is a tricky one to shoot at bets and I cant capture the metallic look of the armour as well as I would like.

Besides the picture quality I am really happy with the conversion and it looks the part in real life so to speak.

Let me know what you think.

40k - Blood Angels - Knights of Blood Captain - Dark Vengeance WIP

I am still not settled yet so here is a post I had saved for these types of occasion.

As I don't collect Dark Angels but had the every nice model of the captain in the Dark Vengeance set I set about converting him into something I can use in my Knights of Blood Army. I cut off all the Dark Angel iconography and where possible replaced it with some Blood Angels bits. Next was a head swap which curiously is a Dark Angels bit..lol and finally a nice straight sword.

Primed black then painted up the base colours using my custom mix for the black armour which is essentially a mix of silver and black giving you a metallic black, not very visible in the picture.

I then started to build up highlights with layers of a lighter shade of the base colours.

Next up the finished model.
