Dark Vengeance - Help me Choose Update
Thanks for the feed back to those that left comments on the previous post. I have just put together the models and must say they are absolutely amazing, outstanding detail on each model, which brings me to my next problem.
They are so detailed that there is no space really on the model to add any more detail like scales for the Alpha Legion.
It seems the best way to go would be to look purely on the paint scheme and not the modelling potential. I am not sure that doing Company of Misery or Knights of Blood would work on these models because the flames and or blood would be obscured by all the existing detail. Same for Claws of Lorek.
Schemes that could work could be Thousand Sons, Nightlords and Reborn.
If you know of some other examples I could look at please let me know as I have not seen much on the net or if you have any other ideas let me know.
Thanks
Vitor

It's actually what I grew to hate about them during the painting process. There is detail on top of detail. It's like they had some good ideas but tried to pile them all on top of one small set of minis. They are great sculpts but a pain to paint. I almost went mad. Good luck following that rabbit down the hole ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the detail is probably beyond an average painter to do justice to. I payed good money for them so will try for a decent standard.
DeleteDidn't you paint these guy sup as Alpha Legion? I think I saw some on your website that looked pretty damn good?
DeleteNight Lords...

Yep, that's what I settled for too as you could portray it with just the lightning:

There really isn't room for any other insignia :(
Thanks for the links, the Nightlords look really good!
DeleteI might go for Iron Warriors... First of all, really cool Chapter :). Second, it might be nice theme to paint. Boltgun Metal all over, Black wash, and pick up the details you want with Steel and Gold... Unfinished details could be left as washed metal, wich looks ok, even if you don't pick up all of them. Dry brushing Steel over washed Metal could also work to pick up some details. Emperors Children might work too, little more work on the other hand... ReplyDeleteThanks. the Iron Warriors do look very enticing!
