Zvezda 1/72 scale WW2 German Motorcycle with Sidecar - Showcase

I was taking some pictures for newer projects recently using my terrain and remembered I didn't have any pictures of the motorcycle against this backdrop, so I took a couple of shots to show it off.

Enjoy

Zvezda 1/72 scale WW2 German BMW Motorcycle with Sidecar - Finished

The base brown camouflage was a 50/50 mix of Middlestone and Chocolate Brown and a 70/30 Chocolate Brown and Middlestone mix for the center part of the camouflage. The green was a 50/50 mix of Reflective Green and Middlestone as a base then a 70/30 mix of Reflective Green and Middlestone for the center of the camouflage. I painted the engine a metal colour and the washed the entire model with a 50/50 mix of brown and black wash.

Last a drybrush of Middlestone. Then I added brown wash in between the wheel spokes to make it look less solid and more like spokes.

The crew were painted with Field Grey and Reflective Green then washed with the same 50/50 brown and black wash.

This was really fun to paint up and pretty quick. I like the result especially since I didn't even have to highlight after the wash a sit was not going to really add much more to the model.

Cant wait to start the next one!

Zvezda 1/72 scale WW2 German BMW with side car

I have been using all my hobby time this last week or so to build most of my 1/72 scale WW2 models. I was intending to go with my 88mm Flak 36/37 but the BMW motorcycle with sidecar looked like the most fun to paint first so that is what I am doing.

The kit from Zvezda is very detailed, cheap and only slightly fiddly to put together.

The look I want to achieve is similar to this photo reference.

I primed in grey and used the Plastic Soldier Company Tank War spray Mid-Late War German Dunkelgelb as the base coat.

The spray was OK, first time I am using it, mainly because it is much easier to paint large models especially with flat surfaces and get a good finish.

Next I washed the model heavily with a dark brown wash.

Stay tuned to see how it turns out.
