40k - Chaos Cultists - The Reborn - Dark Vengeance - Finished

I have applied all the washes and highlights were needed, sorry no in between stage pictures. I was too busy trying to get them finished.

I split the cultists into two groups led by the different maniacs..lol for the pictures, it shows them off better than if they were in one big bunch.

I am really happy with the way they turned out, all gritty and dirty but very evil.

40k - Chaos Cultists - The Reborn - Dark Vengeance - WIP

More Dark Vengeance goodies, by the time I finish this set the new one will be out..lol

This time its the awesome Cultists!

I wanted my cultists to be from many different Imperial Guard Armies. That meant a variety of colours which in turn means it will be hard to make them fit in with the rest of my The Reborn Warband and at the same time make them look like they belong to the same unit themselves.

Black primer was applied first. I then painted all the base colours of the uniforms in reds, blues, greens, browns and greys. I alternated the colours so if one model has a blue trouser he could have a grey jacket and so on, this helped to keep the cohesion while still looking like they come from different armies.

I used the old corroded brass look on the guns to keep the link to The Reborn Warband and I hope once all the shading is done the colours will be muted, dirty and look like they fit together.

Stay tuned to see how they come out!

40k - Chaos Hellbrute - The Reborn - Dark Vengeance - Finished

I added the black metallic trim to the Chaos Symbols around the Eyes on the Claw and Chest Plate only and a few additional washes like the blood dripping from its back.

I also finished the rest of the details like the eyes in the armour and added a few highlights where needed.

Overall I enjoyed the project and am happy the way the model turned out.

Need to think about how I am going to paint the Cultists next!

Let me know what you think with a comment.

40k - Chaos Hellbrute - The Reborn - Dark Vengeance - Last WIP

This is the final stage before completing the model, lack of time is killing my progress.lol

I have built up the final layers of colour on the bone and skin. See pictures above.

Above and below you can see I have started to paint the base of the model and add washes to the skin and bone etc.

This is a close shot so you can see the wash effect on the skin. I am going for a dirty look, almost Nurgle but not so corrupted as these guys are a mix of all Chaos Gods.

Looking good so far.

Next is to tidy up and finish the armour with the black trim and details.

40k - Chaos Hellbrute - The Reborn - Dark Vengeance - More WIP

Making a little progress with this brute..lol. I am now painting up the skin and decided to go for a grey colour as it is muted and will show well under different colour washes, which is the intention for the final result.

I have also painted in the colours of the tentacles, exposed bone and other non skin parts of the model.

Below I have started to build up the base colours towards the final colour, you can see it easily on the bones. I have also painted a lighter shade of grey ( mixed with flesh colour ) onto the raised areas of the skin to highlight the muscles etc.

Next up will be to start the best part, which will be to start adding the washes to create the look I have envisioned.

40k Chaos Hellbrute - The Reborn - Dark Vengeance - WIP

Working on more Dark Vengeance goodies, this time its the awesome Hellbrute!

I started with a grey primer and base layer of black. The armour is done in my tried and trusted method of Tin Bitz or equivalent.

Followed by a drybrush of my custom mix for the armour, slightly more orange than Dwarf Bronze.

Then a heavy wash with my verdigris mix.

Lastly a more controlled drybrush with the armour mix.

More to follow soon, already liking the look of this beast.

40k Chaos Chosen - The Reborn - Finished

Well, I finally managed to finish these bad boys! In the beginning I hated painting these models because of the enormous amount of fine detail on them but towards the end I began to love them and the final product.

The paint job is a good table top standard and these models unfortunately don't look nearly as good in the photographs as they do in reality. My camera is starting to show its age and in these shots you can clearly see the difficulty it has in dealing with the variety of colours in one picture. You cant really see the different shades of paint e.g. red in the cloaks etc

Enough talking from me, enjoy the pictures!

I am so looking forward to tackling the Hellbrute now!!

Let me know what you think of The Reborn!

40k Chaos Chosen - The Reborn - more WIP

It's taking ages for me to finish these guys because so little time these days to paint stuff, so apologies if this is dragging on a bit.

You can see the progress on the cloaks and sword above and below.

Here are some pictures of the non armour details being done including the all important daemons.

Now you can start to get a good feel for what the finished article will look like. Next post will be the finished product, I promise.

40k Chaos Chosen - The Reborn - WIP

I don't have as  much time to work on these beautiful models as I would like but slowly is better than nothing. Above you can see I have started to paint in the layer colours to the details.

I decided that these bad boys will worship all the Chaos Gods so I mixed it all up as far as the daemons go. Some purples, blues and puke...is that a colour..lol

Because these models when put together make painting some areas difficult I am painting them first them will assemble them at the end, so how the finished product will look is a bit of a mystery at the moment.

I want to try and paint the daemons, trying to break out of the sword or trapped inside the sword depending on your preference, to look like real humans so am going for a flesh colour.

More building up the layers and some basic contrasting.

More soon.
