Plastic Soldier Company Allied M5 Halftrack 1/72 Scale - WW2 - WIP

PSC make great kits and this was not exception, it was easy to build and comes with loads of bits to add to the model like stowage and crew etc.

A bit from Wikipedia:

The M5 Half-track (officially the Carrier, Personnel Half-track M5) was an American armoured personnel carrier in use during World War II. It was developed in 1942 when existing manufacturers of the M2 Half Track Car, and M3 Half-track could not keep up with production demand. The M5 was supplied to Allied nations (the British Commonwealth, France, and the Soviet Union) under the Lend-Lease.

The specifications of the M5 were almost identical to the specifications of the M3 Half-track. It was 20.8 feet (6.3 m) long, 7.3 feet (2.23 m) wide, 9 feet (2.74 m) high, and weighed 21,500 pounds (9.8 t). It had vertical volute springs for the tracks and semi-elliptical longitudinal leaf springs for the wheels. It was powered by a 142 hp (106 kW) White 160AX, 386 cubic inch (6,330 cc), 6-cylinder engine, with a compression ratio of 6.35:1. It had a fuel capacity of 60 US gallons (230 l), a range of 125 miles (201 km), and a speed of 42 miles per hour (68 km/h). It had constant mesh transmission, 6.5–13.5 mm (0.26–0.53 in) of armour, one 0.5 in (12.7 mm) M2 machine gun and two 0.3 in (7.6 mm) M1919 machine guns, and crew of three with up to ten passengers.

I primed the models in black followed by a spray of Army Painter 'British Tank'.

Next was a heavy wash of 60/40 brown /black wash.

I followed up with a dry brush with Russian Uniform and painted the base colours of the other details.

I also painted the crew in GW paints namely Graveyard Earth for the uniform and Russian Uniform for the helmets followed by the wash of brown and black.

 Nearly done, so stay tuned.

Armourfast M36 Jackson 1/72 scale - Finished

Finished off the tracks and other details and they are all done. I will revisit them when I get some crew sorted out but for now that is it.
This was again a very easy, nicely detailed set to put together, highly recommended.

Enjoy

Armourfast M36 Jackson 1/72 scale - WIP

Armourfast make really easy kits to put together and this was not exception, it took about 10 minutes to build. The only gripe I have is that the kits do not have any tank crew or extras so you have to have a bits box to add those little additional bits that make all the difference.

The M36 tank destroyer, formally 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage, M36, was an American tank destroyer used during World War II. The M36 was essentially an up-gunned M10 tank destroyer, replacing the former's 3 inch (76.2mm) M7 gun with a powerful 90 mm gun.
The M36 first served in combat in Europe in September 1944, where it proved to be a match for any of the tanks being fielded by the Germans.

The 17 pounder, Self-Propelled, Achilles was a British variant of the American M10 tank destroyer armed with the powerful British Ordnance QF 17 pounder anti-tank gun in place of the standard 3" (76.2 mm) Gun M7. With a total of 1,100 M10s converted, the 17 pdr SP Achilles was the second most numerous armoured fighting vehicle to see service armed with the 17 pounder gun, behind the Sherman Firefly.

I plan to use this for my US and British armies as they look very similar with the exception of the gun barrel and turret but that is not an issue for me, for those of you who are true representational on the gaming board my apologies.

I managed to have a few bits in my box, some 15mm stuff as well, but no extra commanders so that will have to wait till later.

I primed the models in grey followed by a spray of Army Painter 'British Tank'.

Next was a heavy wash of 60/40 brown /black wash.

I followed up with a dry brush with Russian Uniform, no pictures yet.

I need to finish off the details and take some nice pictures to show you guys.

Churchill Tank WW2 - Plastic Soldier Company 1/72 scale - WIP

The Churchill tank was a heavy tank with good armour, better than the Tiger 1 but not quite a s good as the Tiger 2, a reasonable gun (75mm) in the later versions and a good suspension albeit relatively slow.

The PSC kit is easy to build comes with loads of options and has 2 models in the box.
I primed the models with Army Painter spray.

Then covered the models in a brown / black wash.

Drybrushed with Vallejo Russian Uniform and painted in all the details.

Now just the finishing touches.

Cromwell Tank WW2 - Armourfast 1/72 scale - Finished

Here are the finished models.

Overall one of the easiest kits to get to a good table top standard I have completed.

Other than the addition of a tank commander there is nothing to add to this kit. Well done Armourfast.

Enjoy

Cromwell Tank WW2 - Armourfast 1/72 scale - WIP

The latest addition to my slowly growing 1/72 scale WW2 collection is the Cromwell Tank. It was one of the most successful series of cruiser tanks fielded by Britain in the war. It was fast, moderately armoured and had a reasonable gun and its profile was lower than a Sherman tank.

The Armourfast kit was pretty easy to put together and is green so if you want to play without painting it then you can.

I primed the models in British Tank from Army Painter.

Next I covered the models in a  60/40 brown /black wash.

I drybrushed the models with Russian Uniform then painted in all the other details like the tracks and tank commander.

Stay tuned for the finished models.
