Plastic Soldier Company 1 /72 Scale Sherman Tank - Finished

I have added some of my custom 60/40 Brown /Black wash to the tracks and details and then tidied up the models where necessary.

Here are some more shots of different angles.

Hope you like the way they turned out.

Plastic Soldier Company 1 /72 Scale Sherman Tank - WIP

Starting work on my Sherman Tanks, the PSC kit is perfect for me as it is easy to build, has lots of extras, good detail and is affordable. You can also make a Firefly as part of the squad which is a 'must have'.

I started off with a primer / base colour of Plastic Soldier Company Army Spray British Armour. This is a great way to get a smooth layer of paint on all those flat surfaces.

Next step was to apply a heavy wash for the shading which I used my usual 50/50 mix of black and brown.

Then I dry-brushed the models with Vallejo Russian Uniform.

All that remains is for me to complete the tracks and details.

Flames of War - Sherman Firefly Tanks - Finished

The fit of the Firefly Tanks are much better than the regular Sherman Tank and so require less green-stuff to fill the gaps.

I painted the Firefly's the same way as the regular versions so not much else to say other than this from the Wikipedea about its combat efficiency

'After the problem of getting the gun to fit in the Sherman's turret was solved, the Firefly was put into production in early 1944, in time to equip Field Marshal Montgomery's forces for the Normandy landings. It soon became highly valued as the only British tank capable of defeating the Panther and Tiger Tanks it faced in Normandy at standard combat ranges. In recognition of this, German tank and anti-tank gun crews were instructed to attack Fireflies first. Between 2100 and 2200 were manufactured before production wound down in 1945.'

Compare that production to the Tiger 1 which was around 1300 units total production over 2 years and the Panther Tank around 6000 units produced over a 3 year period.

Above are picture of a shell from the 17 pounder and a real Firefly.

The rest of the pictures.

Now onto my Stug's.
