After finishing my Sons of Horus Marine I knew I wanted to paint a squad that would require less concentration but still turn out looking great. That thought led me to one of my first choices for the Betrayal at Calth set which is Night Lords.
I have painted up a nice test model and I set about replicating that scheme over the entire squad.
I started with a black primer and then painted the model with a silver. Once dry I applied a wash of black to define the shaded areas and tone down the brightness of the silver.
Next was to apply three separate washes of Drakenhof Nightshade waiting for each one to dry before proceeding to the next. You can see the nice effect this has on the armour as each wash goes on.
Next was to start on all the detail which brings me to the shoulder pads, they are Vampire Shoulder Pads from Puppets War. These are nicely sculpted in resin but beware when using them as the wing tips carry over the top of the pad and will hinder the fit of backpacks etc if the arm is in the raised position like firing a pistol. I had to clip off the ends on a few to get them to fit which is a shame.
Just need to finish up the details and bases and they will be done. Cant wait!
Enjoy
