Bolt Action - German Tiger 1 - Finished

I have added washes to the details, mostly my mix of brown and black in a 60/40 ratio. I find this a great all round wash for just about anything.

I have experimented with a slightly darker background for the picture as I found the blue tends to skew the colours when I use my phone camera.

Sorry the last picture is slightly out of focus.

Bolt Action - German Tiger 1 - WIP3

So I have finally managed to get both time and motivation to do some more painting and I can say that it felt so good to put paint to brush after such a long layoff.

I have completed the dry brushing, first pass over with Middlestone and the second with Bleached Bone.

I have also started to paint in the details as you can see with the tracks and tank commander.

Next to complete the deatils and add the washes .

Bolt Action - German Tiger 1 - WIP2

I have manged to get a bit more hobby time and have been working on the camoflage scheme.

The base brown camouflage was a 50/50 mix of Middlestone and Chocolate Brown and a 70/30 Chocolate Brown and Middlestone mix for the center part of the camouflage.

The green was a 50/50 mix of Reflective Green and Middlestone as a base then a 70/30 mix of Reflective Green and Middlestone for the center of the camouflage.

All that is left to do is paint the details like tracks etc.

Bolt Action - German Tiger 1 - WIP

My next model in my Bolt Action force is the mighty Tiger 1. I call this the big cat because from the outset until the end of the war it was feared by all opposition. There were arguably better and bigger cats but this was the first and most iconic big cat.

The model from warlord is a plastic kit which was easy to put together and looks really good.

I aim to paint it in the same scheme as this picture which is based on the famous Tank Commander Michael Wittmann.

For this model I started off with a black primer, followed by a base coat of Middlestone.

Next a heavy wash of my Brown/Black wash (60/40mix).

Then a drybrush with Middlestone again.

Next up completing the camouflage and the rest of the details.

Bolt Action - German Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer - Finished

Continuing with the camouflage, I painted green and brown specks on the opposing colours i.e green specks on brown and brown specks on green camo and then a few on the base yellow.

I next drybrushed the tank with a bone colour to bring out the details, last I painted the tracks and other small details and finished with washes.

It has come out looking pretty cool, for me anyway, I am very happy.

Next up, there may be a big cat in on the prowl.....

Bolt Action - German Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer - WIP

My next model in my Bolt Action force is the small but powerful Hetzer 38t. The model from warlord is a resin piece with a metal barrel and hatches, it is nice and solid and feels great as opposed to a plastic version.

I aim to paint it in the same scheme as this picture.

For this model I started off with a black primer, followed by a base coat of Middlestone.

Next a heavy wash of my Brown/Black wash (60/40mix).

Then a drybrush with Middlestone again.

The camouflage patterns are Dark brown for the inner parts with Middlestone added to the mix for the outer part. The green is Reflective Green with the same process.

Next up completing the camouflage and the rest of the details.

Bolt Action - German Infantry and Halftrack

I wanted to see how the units I have painted so far look together on a tabletop so I got out some of my terrain and took a few pictures.

I think they look pretty good so far.

Bolt Action - German Infantry - Finished

All that was left to do was to add washes and highlight where necessary with the original base colour and to finish off the bases with my ground black pepper and herb/static grass mix.

They came out pretty well and I am very pleased with the result.

Bolt Action - German Infantry - WIP2

The next step was to add washes to create shadow on the models. This was done using my custom 60/40 brown and black wash.

The final phase will be to paint in the highlights and finish the bases.

Bolt Action - German Infantry - WIP

The next set of models to paint is my Bolt Action Late War German infantry.

As usual I started with a primer of black and then painted in all the base colours.

The uniform is Field Grey, the helmets and gas mask cans are Reflective Green. The camo smock and other items are just regular GW paint colours.

Next step is to add washes and highlights.

Stay tuned.
