Here are some pictures of the original piece I did and you can see how they differ.
So how did I finish the terrain?
I painted the Aquila up to Bleached Bone and added washes to the ground and rocks then added static grass.
Next was to paint the Aquila up to white. I used a thinned down mix of paint as I wanted the colour below to show through for the marble effect.
I then added the marble 'veins' by using first a brown then a black wash.
Lastly I glued some sand onto the Aquila to show it has been there for a long while and painted that up to match the grey/black rock.

That looks great. The grass and sand is a nice touch, it sells the old abandoned battlefield idea very well.
