Pre Heresy - Sons of Horus - Finished

Finished the details on this guy and I must say based on my goals of quick and easy table top quality, this was a huge success. I really like the look of the washed armour colour.

Now to the part I am not happy with. This scheme does not scream out to me Sons of Horus, it looks more like a Salamader Marine, to me anyway. Maybe if I painted the 'eye' on the shoulder pad it would be better but I doubt it.

Here is a picture of the back.

Let me know if you think this looks like Sons of Horus or not.

After painting this I had a idea! stay tuned for that later.

  1. Looks great but yeah, that marine is too green and clean. Maybe one less layer of glaze next time or something to tone down or muddy/mute this one.

  2. It looks sweet, but I think you're right in that it looks more like Salamanders or maybe even Dark Angels. I think you just need to mute the color a bit or make it more "washed out" looking. Either way, great progress dude! Keep at it

  3. Agree with both previous commentators, it looks really good but to much like Salamanders or even DA.

  4. Painting is excellent, but the colour is off as others have said..SoH are sea-green Google around you'll see how pale that green is.

  5. Thanks for all the comments guys, as my previous post explains I was attempting to achieve the green by using washes over a light basecoat, I think probably 2 applications of the green wash would have been the way to go. The 3rd was just too much!

    1. Yeah, that's the hardest part of working with a glaze technique. It's nearly impossible to go back but its so easy to take it one glaze too far.
